We believe girls are as intelligent as boys. The national trend is, boys do better than girls in mathematics and science as students go through secondary school. Also, fewer girls study STEM careers or perform highly on STEM subjects. Together, we want to change this forever at Capital City Academy.

- Access available resources on this website including the curriculum and hegartymaths, so that you are aware of the material your child is using at school
- Check and discuss your children's homework every week and record comments in their diaries if you wish to comment on any subject.
- Engage with the progress of your child so that everyone is aware of targets and upcoming exams;
- Email subject teachers if necessary to understand how best to support your child.
SCHOOL:
- Keep the online resources, available on the school website, to support your child in working towards and exceeding their targets;
- Provide a booster maths lessons in the department;
- Provide diagnostic testing for girls in the focus group during the term in Maths and Science target;
- Provide resit opportunities for members of the Focus Group who require further support and wish to correct misconceptions, review topics tested and improve their scores;
- Provide CPD opportunities for teachers of your children to improve teaching for Mastery and enjoyment of mathematics.
- Create workshops to provide extra motivation for the students. For example, outside expert speakers and/or field trips.
